'I Never Lie’ is my last project.
It takes inspiration from the artistic research I carried out during my master studies at Codarts, focused on the use of samples in the composing process.
For two demanding years I analysed works by Steve Reich, JacobTV and Chassol’s ultrascore and made different kinds of experiments to incorporate triggers and pads into my set-up. I (happily) got lost into Max MSP, trying to find a handy way to launch and control samples, video fragments and stage lights with my drumming and I spent nights programming patches until my house almost turned into a strobo-discotheque (but a very nerdy one).
My composing approach changed and developed, always keeping samples as a starting point for my musical ideas.
This project is the result of this whole exploration, a step-by-step journey into a bittersweet reality, struggling towards the most frightening and yet ephemeral thing ever: the TRUTH.
